From
conducting a questionnaire I discovered that 95% of my needed target audience do
not read a college magazine. 25% of people said they would pay for the magazine,
on average about 50p. I could get different shops and organisations to advertise
in the magazine for money to develop it to make it better. Asking places
like KFC, driving schools and New Look, where a lot of the target audience
frequently visit. From a list of 6 different topics we could put in the
magazine, personal messages, shout outs, competitions and news bulletins
received the highest amount of votes, whereas 'the history of the college' and
'help with your work load' were not such a popular choice. When the audience
were asked what would grab their attention to the magazine, I had answers such
as pictures, more publicity, graphics, more exciting and more colour. An answer that i liked by a student was that it would be nice to see some of the media and photography students pictures in the magazine, maybe as a 'picture of the week' competition. We can
focus on making the front cover eye catching and carrying on the same theme
throughout the magazine. 50% of our audience would buy the magazine monthly and
30% weekly. To please both groups of choice the magazine could be issued
fortnightly. The information the magazine could contain are jobs, upcoming gigs,
cinema, gossip, agony aunt and facebook news. These 6 topics came top from a
list of 13 things on the questionnaire. World news didn't receive any votes so I
this is not a section I will include, as people obviously wouldn't be
interested.
